Impact
Mary and Marlowe chose LIVE2540 because of its powerful mission to give children not just a second chance at life, but the opportunity to experience lasting hope through faith. Rooted in Matthew 25:40, the organization provides life-saving medical care, nutrition, education, and discipleship to some of the most vulnerable children in the world.
Through its work, LIVE2540 is addressing both physical and spiritual needs — restoring health to malnourished children while also sharing the message of Christ. By focusing on early intervention and consistent care, the organization is helping children survive, grow, and ultimately thrive.
For Mary and Marlowe, this mission is deeply meaningful. Their involvement has given them a firsthand understanding of how critical access to nutrition and care is — and how transformative it can be when children are given the chance to live healthy, hope-filled lives.
How the Grant Would Help
This $10,000 grant would provide life-saving nutrition to approximately 714 children suffering from severe malnutrition. Funding would be used to supply Plumpy’Nut for older children and therapeutic milk for infants — both critical treatments used to restore health in vulnerable populations.
These resources can be delivered quickly, with supplies reaching hospitals within months and immediately distributed to children in need. Because LIVE2540 serves thousands of children each month, the impact of this grant would be both immediate and far-reaching.
Beyond physical nourishment, this support represents something even greater — the opportunity for children to experience renewed life, hope, and care during their most vulnerable moments.
Student Involvement
Mary Hornbuckle has been involved with LIVE2540 for the past two years, participating in fundraising events and hands-on service opportunities. She has helped raise awareness through events, written letters of encouragement to children overseas, and collected stuffed animals to be delivered alongside those messages.
She has also supported the organization’s retail operations, assisting with pricing, organizing merchandise, and working the register — helping generate funding that directly supports LIVE2540’s mission.
Marlowe Spangler has served alongside her family at fundraising events and through ongoing support efforts, including writing letters and helping prepare items that will be delivered to children during international visits. Their shared involvement reflects a genuine commitment to supporting this mission in both practical and meaningful ways.
