Equine-Assisted Therapy
Impact
Laci chose Reins of Hope because it has been a meaningful part of her life for years. Since the age of nine, she has experienced firsthand the unique environment the organization creates — one defined by compassion, patience, and a deep sense of belonging.
Reins of Hope provides equine-assisted therapy for children and adults facing physical, emotional, and social challenges. Through structured interaction with horses, participants experience growth in confidence, mobility, emotional regulation, and overall well-being in ways that traditional therapies often cannot replicate.
For many families and individuals, this program becomes more than therapy — it becomes a place of healing, community, and hope. Laci has seen how the relationships formed within this space transform lives, creating a lasting impact for both participants and their families.
How the Grant Would Help
This $30,000 grant will fund scholarships for riders and participants whose families are already carrying significant financial burdens. Many individuals served by Reins of Hope require extensive medical care, specialized education, and ongoing therapies, making additional programs like equine therapy financially out of reach.
Equine-assisted therapy can cost up to $5,000 per participant annually and is not covered by insurance. This funding will ensure that individuals are not turned away due to financial limitations and can continue receiving consistent, life-changing care.
In addition, scholarships will support participants in the breast cancer survivor program, offering women a space for healing, rebuilding confidence, and navigating life after treatment.
By removing financial barriers, this grant will expand access, strengthen the program, and allow Reins of Hope to continue serving as a place where every individual is seen, supported, and valued.
Student Involvement
Laci has been involved with Reins of Hope for over seven years, beginning her service at just nine years old. Over time, she has taken on a consistent and active role within the organization, supporting both the riders and the daily operations of the program.
Her work includes caring for the horses through feeding, grooming, and stall maintenance, as well as assisting during therapy sessions by side-walking with riders and helping create a safe, engaging environment.
Her long-term commitment reflects a deep personal connection to the mission and a genuine passion for serving others through this unique and impactful form of therapy.
